the sunday currently, volume 53.

these photos were taken in pinehurst in march, but they have always felt like fall to me

Happy Fall, y'all! With the Fall Equinox comes the first official day of the season, & I have the wine-colored nails to prove it. Today I am raising my glass to toast the season of crackling fires, zipping myself up into the coziest of boots, & that little spark in the air... the one that tells you that Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Years are just around the candy-&-tinsel-festooned corner. Perhaps you'll join me in celebrating today, by both reading & sharing some currentlies...

C  U  R  R  E  N  T  L  Y  .  .  .

R E A D I N G October's Real Simple. I haven't cracked any of my issues open in months, but when this one arrived with a black cat on the front, I couldn't resist. Already enjoying it, too. I'm still reading World War Z as well, for school.
W R I T I N G plans for my official relaunch in the blog world. I have a few little design tweaks coming [other than the small ones you may be noticing today]. I'm going to have a fresh header to start October out with, as well as some additions I'm really excited about.
L I S T E N I N G to cars zoom by on the road outside our living room window. We get a lot of traffic out there, & I find the sounds soothing.
T H I N K I N G that life is so much better when you wake up early. I got up around 6:30 this morning, so that I could drop Justin off at work. I love the process of slowly waking up on the couch with a cup of coffee & watching YouTube vlogs. As further evidence that this is the way to wake up: Due to an alarm malfunction, I woke up seven minutes after I was supposed to leave the house on Thursday morning. I threw on a t-shirt, workout shorts, & ran out the door for class. I was still on time & everything, but my day just felt... off. I didn't get to go through my morning routine, & I found myself missing it all throughout the course of the day.
S M E L L I N G Archer Farms' Pumpkin Spice K-Cups. Delicious. I picked up the Caramel Macchiato variety in the grocery store this week, & it's delicious too. Archer Farms, you're the best. Thank you for being you.
W I S H I N G my shopping adventure in the mall yesterday had yielded more results. It's disappointing when you set out, ready to indulge in a little retail therapy, & nothing calls to you. Especially when you go through the process of trying on clothes, & they all turn out to be duds. I did buy one of my all-time favorite scents from Victoria's Secret - Warm & Cozy - in both body lotion & spray, though, so that was a success.
H O P I N G for a week like last week: productive, under control, rewarding, & relaxing.
W E A R I N G my blue & white striped sweater from Nautica, which I love.
L O V I  N G that I rose early this morning, as I mentioned above. It just feels good. And it's a little chilly outside, & a little overcast, too. All of this combined makes my couch + cup of coffee an indulgence that feels heavenly at the moment.
W A N T I N G a healthy lunch - perhaps from Whole Foods - today.
N E E D I N G to do some laundry. Remember that productive, yet relaxing week I was just boasting about in the hoping section? Well, unfortunately the shirking of house chores was involved in that result.
F E E L I N G at ease. And so grateful for that fact.
C L I C K I N G very little. And feeling very sad about that. But knowing that that's something I have the power to change. I miss reading my daily reads, my not-so-daily reads, & all the ones that fall in between. Maybe this week I'll have some time to dive into the blogging realm & see what's been going on.

Well, that's all for today, folks. When I see you this time next week, I'll be one day away from being officially back here in this space, & I'm so excited for that moment. This little sabbatical was absolutely essential for my sanity, but it has also been illuminating. I love sharing with you all, & I love communicating with you all, & to say that I'm looking forward to the reinstatement of that is, well, an understatement. Have a great week, & I'll see you back here next week for another roundup of currentlies.

I'm with you on the uninspired shopping - I hate it when I'm deliberately looking to spend some money and can't find a thing worth buying. But then when I'm broke, I find sixteen different things I can't live without. On sale. Hope, other than that, you're having a lovely fall weekend!

I agree on the 'waking up early' part. I think I'm actually a morning person who just has a screwed-up body clock. But really, early mornings feel so peaceful.

Doesn't that always happen -- when you plan on buying stuff you don't find anything. It's when you don't need anything and/or aren't trying to spend money that you find all the awesome stuff! And I agree about waking up early. I need to start doing that again.

I definitely agree about waking up earlier. I never want to do it, but I always feel better later in the day when I do. :)

I hope you enjoyed the rest of your Sunday! I'm still loving our matching plaid today via Instagram. :) My October Real Simple hasn't arrived yet, but I spotted it in the supermarket and am getting so excited for it! I adore fall and am so happy that it's finally arriving.

the back and forth.

Justin had to turn on the air conditioner again last night.  It's October 26 - doesn't that mean the heater can stay on? Doesn't...
