drugstore living.

I have a big love for any & all beauty products, but I have a special affinity for drugstore products. I've made it my mission to research & review as many products from the drugstore as possible.

To read all of my makeup- & beauty-related posts, go here.

If there is a specific product you'd like me to review, let me know, & I'll do my best to get out to the drugstore & pick it up & start testing it out. Email me with any requests (siddathornton@gmail.com).

the sunday currently.

When I started blogging on siddathornton back in July of 2011, the beginning of my currently posts wasn't far off. I've long enjoyed compiling lists of what's going on in the moment, but I never thought about making it a link-up or an always-on-Sundays thing until September 16, 2012. As you can read in that post, I was elated, due to the responses I was getting from other bloggers, letting me know that they, too were doing "currently" posts and had decided to dedicate the writing of them to Sundays each week. Thus, The Sunday Currently was born, and I have currently penned over 100 posts, some with over 50 people linking up and sharing what they're up to, too. If you feel so inclined, please join! Let's celebrate the little moments of our lives that we never want to forget.

what is ink & paper?

ink & paper is a section of this blog which will include book lists, which i like to make for each season. for example, i usually try to read at least 10 books per summer (although that has not exactly been successful this year).

this section may also include book reviews. now, i use the term 'review' extremely loosely. i do not exactly enjoy writing hard and fast, stylized book reviews of the kind you may see in the new york times or some other fancy publication. i write this blog for myself, so i'm not trying to impress anyone or live up to anyone else's standards.

wow, a little heavy for book review explanations, ya think? just wanted to be clear on what you may find in this section, which is basically my love for all things ink & paper.

here are the blogs i love to read.

Twenty sixteen reads: some old, familiar favorites and some new, intriguing ones to get to know.

list away!

i love lists.

i love making them, i love reading through them, i love checking things off of them... the whole enchilada.

sometimes the lists you'll find here will be comprised of things i'm loving at the moment. maybe the beauty products i loved that month. maybe the playlist i haven't stopped listening to all week. maybe a list of photos i've found bouncing around the internet.

i've named them 'love lists' because i think of them as a love letter to the things i love, in a way.

this section is sure to be filled with the things that inspire me.

coffee addict, right here.

that's right. you found me out.

i'm one of those people. the people whose days simply cannot start until they have sipped that hot, liquid energy from their favorite mug.

but, it's ok. because at least i don't visit starbucks every day (which, for me, is a feat in and of itself).

i like to reserve trips to starbucks for only one day of the week - sunday.

you can expect photos of my weekly starbucks outing, be it in my hometown in lousiana, an airport in the midst of travel, or perhaps in the company of friends or family.

and not to worry - i always share what i'm sipping, so you can be privy to the best that starbucks has to offer! because believe me, i like to think i've tried almost everything on the menu.

cooking. fixing. cleaning. making.

a little goal of mine for the last year or so has been to become more domestic.

you may be wondering what i mean by this, and the answer is simple: i want to be able to cook. i want to be able to do odd jobs around the house. i want to create beautiful items through arts and crafts.

watch (and probably laugh) as i attempt to morph into martha stewart (minus the jail time, thanks).

the day in pictures.

a picture of the weeds flowers at the shuttle stop at my place of employment?

a picture of my freshly-delivered birchbox?

a 'mirror picture' of one of my accidentally cute outfits?

that's the kind of thing you can expect to find around these parts.

warning: my pictures are generated through iphone photo apps. photo snobs, proceed at your own risk.

about me.

Hello! And welcome to siddathornton.

My name is Lauren. I am 29 years old. Here are a few random factoids about me & my life...

- I'm originally from Louisiana, but I live in North Carolina with my husband, Justin. We aren't from New Orleans. Every time we tell someone we're from Louisiana, this is immediately what they assume. We actually come from a town in northwest Louisiana - Shreveport - which may as well be Texas, it's so close to the state line.

- Due to my love of the written word, I majored in Journalism at Louisiana Tech University. Tech is located in the quaint town of Ruston, Louisiana, and I like to think that attending college in a small town shaped much of who I am today. And as much as I would have liked the overly-romaticized dream of becoming a professional writer to have come to fruition for me, I'm in the midst of a career change, via occupational therapy school.

- There are a few things for which I have an unhealthy obsession: reading, coffee, working out, beauty products, rainy days, & TV on DVD and/or Netflix. Justin recently remarked that he'd like to know the sum of money he spends on coffee each year to feed my addiction. Personally, I'd rather this information be kept under wraps (for obvious reasons).

- Justin & I met freshman year of college & dated on & off for all four years & then some. We got engaged in October of 2011. We got married in October of 2012. Want to see all the posts about our engagement & wedding? They're all here & here. Here are some highlights:

I hope this blog will serve as a vehicle to inspire creativity among others as well as myself. It is my intent to be for others what other blogs are for me: inspiring, relatable, and comforting.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

- Oh, & want to know why my blog is called siddathornton? You can read about it here.

the back and forth.

Justin had to turn on the air conditioner again last night.  It's October 26 - doesn't that mean the heater can stay on? Doesn't...
