the sunday currently, advance edition. [volume 15].

by the time you are reading this, my friend laura will know that i have flown in to shreveport to surprise her, & she will have some brand new exciting news! and since justin & i will have been traveling on saturday & loading up a moving truck with the rest of our in-shreveport possessions & shoving off for wilmington, that is why this the sunday currently post is an advance edition.
reading the hobbit, especially since we have a 15-hour [plus!] road trip in a moving truck ahead of us. i'll be critiquing this book on january 9th, when i revive my critique cache feature here on siddathornton. if you've read the book, please come link up with a review post!
writing in my brand new maybooks planner! justin surprised me with a special christmas eve delivery - the exact one i had on my wish list. this is my first maybooks experience, & i have to say, i'm impressed & already want more. i'll be sharing what it looks like soon [i'm sure, via instagram].
listening to road trip tunes as justin & i drive east. i'm sure we're already ready to be pulling into our apartment complex, but we're not scheduled to arrive until around noon on monday. i have to say, though, that i'm excited about stopping to eat at cracker barrel!
thinking that christmas was so much fun. i loved having my family here in wilmington to show them around. i missed them so much when i woke up on friday & they had already left for shreveport.
smelling fresh air on the open road.
wishing for safe travels.
hoping we have a ton of fun out with our friends on saturday night - we can't wait to see everyone!
wearing what i'm sure is frumpy road trip attire. i always pretend i'm going to wear something cute on road trips, but at the end of the day, comfort is key.
loving our brand new nikon d3000! thank you, mom & dad! justin took the lovely photo you see above with the new camera. we're already in love, & i can't wait to use it to take some pretty pictures for my blog.
wanting to get home quickly & safely & to have all our furniture unpacked & arranged.
needing water, i bet. and to get caught up on all my favorite blogs. i've taken a lot of blog-time off during the holiday season. it's been refreshing, & as always when i don't blog consistently, i've realized just how much i love it.
feeling tired, i bet.

i hope you all have had a fun, relaxing, & refreshing holiday season. here's to 2013!

friday's fancies #53: hello 2013!

another year is on the horizon - & of course that means resolutions are on the mind. but also? parties! while i, personally, will not be attending a gathering to ring in the new year, that didn't stop me from dreaming up a chic, glamorous look.
friday's fancies #53: hello 2013!

dear 2013, i think you should be the year that i write a one-sentence-per-day journal. dear 2013, i think you should be the year i open my own business. dear 2013, i think you should be the year i settle into consistency with myself. dear 2013, i think you should be the year i write a book. dear 2013, i'm excited to meet you. dear 2012, thank you so much for being such a year of excitement - a year of moving, of getting married... a year that is a beginning. dear dad, mom, & kara, thank you so much for coming to wilmington & staying for christmas. it was so great to have people to run around town with & keep my day busy. i'm so glad we got to explore the battleship north carolina, as well as traipse around downtown, in my park, at the beach, & everywhere else. christmas mass was great, & so was ihop afterwards. and my feet are aching from all the walking & shopping we've done. i'm sad y'all are going home, & i hope y'all come back to visit soon. dear antique shop, you might be my favorite place in wilmington, with your coffee pot & flavored syrups & wall-to-wall treasures. dear justin, here's to our first married christmas! it was lovely.

christmas eve: a day at the beach.

this morning, we piled in the car & went on a starbucks run, then strolled around beautiful wrightsville beach, warm drinks in hand. after that, we popped in for a quick shop around mayfaire town center, before we picked up a ham, antiqued, did some sight-seeing through downtown, went in search of the captain, & other various wilmington errands. then, it was time for cooking, present-opening, eating, & squealing over exciting gifts [one of which will greatly affect this blog - more to come soon!]. all in all, a lovely little day in wilmington with my family.

the sunday currently, volume 14.

reading the hobbit. the reading bug has bitten me again, & with perfect timing: critique cache will be back next month, & this is the book i'll be writing about. if you happen to be reading it too, make sure to come link up with your review on january 9th!
writing basically nothing. i haven't even been writing in my planner, which is seriously a sad state of affairs. i'm excited about writing in a one-sentence-per-day journal for 2013.
listening to my christmas 2012 spotify playlist, which was finally compiled on friday. think the shins, she & him, the ravonettes, etc.
thinking that this is probably about as redesigned as my blog is going to get for a while. i've switched up the color palette a bit, to include one of my favorite colors, navy. i had a grand redesign scheduled to go live at the beginning of the new year, but i just can't part with what i have now. i think i've grown attached. i was talking to justin about it the other night, & he thinks a change would be refreshing. i told him it may have to happen in small increments. over-thinking this, much? probably.
smelling a freshly-lit candle. and a freshly-brewed pot of coffee. my favorite sunday morning combination.
wishing my parents & sister safe travels for the last leg of their drive before they arrive here!
hoping we get to go to the george today. if not today, then maybe tomorrow?
wearing my xxl tshirt, which is basically the most comfortable thing ever. and some green & white polka-dotted pajama pants. i'll be getting dressed soon, though, because we have some errands to run before my family arrives.
loving that my family will be arriving in wilmington today! i can't wait to show them around our new town.
wanting another diet coke. i had two yesterday. that's a lot for someone who hasn't been drinking soft drinks. that's why i never keep them in the house. oh, and the mint oreos we currently have in the fridge are definitely calling me. cold mint oreos are my favorite cookie, hands down.
needing a tall glass of water & a long workout. i don't think it's going to happen today. the workout, that is.
feeling like i miss my friends. i got the cutest christmas card ever from lindsey yesterday.
clicking this ultra-inspiring post by wonder forest. it really resonated with me, & i can't stop thinking about it. anyone can do anything if they try.

merry christmas eve eve! i hope you all are enjoying some relaxing time with your loved ones.

friday's fancies #52 + friday's letters.

when {av} first announced this week's friday's fancies theme, i immediately had visions of sparkly party dresses dancing in my head. but when i sat down to put my look together, i felt drawn to creating a rather comfy ensemble. since my family will be in wilmington to celebrate with us next week, i can't think of anything i'd rather wear than the look below, while running around shopping, eating, & taking in the sights.

friday's fancies #52: holiday best.sweater | earrings | shoes | jeans

dear today, i really hope you're not the end of the world. dear history channel, i really don't give you enough credit or watch you enough. i think i really may be a history buff at heart [justin would laugh at that, considering my C in louisiana history in college... not my finest hour]. dear job market, i certainly do hope everyone is right & that you perk up after the holidays. dear 2013, don't worry, i'll be writing you a long letter soon, but i have high hopes for you & your clean start. dear christmas tree, i just love you & your blue & silver ornaments. and your simple white lights. dear family, i can't wait to see you in just a couple more days.

the sunday currently, volume 125.

reading a mish-mash of things right now. I don't usually like to read more than one book at a time, but I am in a reading rut... and I...
