the sunday currently, volume 87.

Good morning, everyone! We've just dropped Kara at the airport on this chilly, sunny Sunday morning. We have had such a good time having her in town, and I was sad to send her off. I hope she'll come visit us again soon.

One good thing about dropping people at the airport for early morning flights is that a Starbucks trip is almost guaranteed. And as I sit typing this, Justin & I are curled up on the couch watching Can't Buy Me Love, which I've never seen before.

In short, it's shaping up to be a lovely Spring morning so far.

C U R R E N T L Y . . .

R E A D I N G  isn't really something that's happened a lot this week. With Kara in town, I was focusing more on spending time with her & showing her around Wilmington. I need to re-configure my reading schedule, that's for sure, but I also need to make a trip to the library this week for some motivation [and just because I want to, obviously]. As I've said before, borrowing books from the library really gives me the push I need to get my books finished. It's time-sensitive, & that is a great motivator.
W R I T I N G  ... well, I wrote a freelance piece for Wilma Magazine this week. I have some big goals for my writing in the coming couple of years, which of course I'll share as things develop. What I really want: to publish a novel, to publish a children's book, & to get published in some literary journals. I know, all a bit lofty, but I'm a strong believer that if something is meant to happen, & if you want something to happen badly enough, it will find a way to work out.
L I S T E N I N G  to the movie as I type out this post. I'm trying to pay close attention, since I've never seen it before. And, well, also because I like it. And speaking of "listening," I need to post my Spring Playlist this week, because I feel like before we know it, the Summer Solstice is going to be upon us.
T H I N K I N G  that a chilly morning with the promise of a warm drink is a simple joy indeed. Also, that I'm really looking forward to the time when I get to share some news with all of you. I'm not good at keeping secrets, really, so I think that largely accounts for the silence on this blog recently. I'm not good at "kind of" sharing. Soon, I'll be able to be completely transparent, & I'm looking forward to that time.
S M E L L I N G  my tall nonfat caramel macchiato. Yum. So, so delicious, especially this morning. They must have made it with love. Also, lately I've been smelling like some of my new scents from Bath & Body Works. They really hit the nail on the head with their Spring line. My favorite so far? French Lavender & Honey. It's such a fresh, soothing scent.
W I S H I N G  a venti nonfat caramel macchiato was sitting in front of me, because they really knew what they were doing when they made it this morning. Also, that they would have taught home economics when I was in high school. Think about it: so many more of us would actually know how to cook if that were the case.
H O P I N G  Kara's flights are smooth & quick this morning. Also hoping? That R & I have success during our Starbucks scholarship search this week. I'm also hoping that the donut I'm about to eat is as delicious as I am imagining. Chances are, it will be.
W E A R I N G  curly hair this week, I'm thinking. I'm ready for my hair to grow out a bit. I'm missing my messy buns something fierce.
L O V I N G  that Kara loved Flaming Amy's Bowl as much as I do. She even requested a return trip for dinner last night. It is SO good, & I'm glad she recognized that. I'm also just loving the past week in general: we went to the beach, volunteered together at the horse farm, watched a lot of New Girl, & took a road trip to Greenville.
W A N T I N G  breakfast at either Dixie Grill or Sawmill this morning. We've definitely eaten well in the past week, that's for sure. In fact, I plan to charge up my Fitbit tonight so I can really get back on track tomorrow. I'm feeling quite motivated, & I don't plan to waste that.
N E E D I N G  to work on my blog redesign this week, as well as clean the house, catch up with friends, read, catch up on my Bible reading app, catch up on all of my journals, etc. The list is already long, & I'm sure it's building subconsciously, as we speak.
F E E L I N G  tired & happy & thirsty & hungry & excited & content. Lots of emotions at once.
C L I C K I N G  this post of some gorgeous sunrise photos from Betsy. It reminded me of all the reasons I fight against my sleeping-all-day-staying-up-all-night nature to rise from bed early & enjoy those moments when the day is still brand new. Also, this post about writing from Rachel. She really inspires me to just write - to just put words to paper & get it out there.

Well, I guess it's time to really get into the movie now. Here's hoping this Sunday is a lazy one. After the back-to-back awesomeness that was this past week, I think we need to re-charge & prepare for the week ahead. Cheers!

It sounds like you had a wonderful week filled with good food and lots of fun with your friend. Good luck as you pursue your writing! I'm also a firm believer that if you want something to happen and you're persistent that your hard work will pay off. :)

This is my first experience seeing The Sunday Currently -- my friend Crystal at Straight on til Morning shared it with me -- LOVE it! What a great way to reflect on what's been going on in your life and mind. Our writing goals are very similar; huzzah for lofty goals!

Now I feel like having a cup of hot cocoa in this chilly night before hitting the sack. Obviously that is not going to happen. Booo. AND lady, you totally tickled that curious cat in me!

the back and forth.

Justin had to turn on the air conditioner again last night.  It's October 26 - doesn't that mean the heater can stay on? Doesn't...
