on letting myself rest.

I know that I mentioned these very kinds of posts in this post, & how I wasn't pleased when they were all I was writing, but I decided to keep them around, in moderation. Why? Because, well, I feel like they are even more personal than any of my other posts. They are a way for me to share my thoughts of the day, whatever they may be.

Today,  I am coming to you from my favorite Starbucks in town. The new one on Oleander. And, you know, I feel like I need to go to my favorite places in Wilmington as much as possible, because at the end of July, we're moving away from here.

And today,  I am just glad that I got out of bed before eleven. I am just glad that I put on makeup, fixed my hair. I am just glad that I packed up my laptop & composition books & made my way over here to work on things. I am just glad to be here. Working. Thinking. Doing.

Because I'm going to be honest with you: yesterday, I spent all day in my pajamas. Yesterday, I watched Girls almost the entire time I was awake. And when Justin got home? We watched One Tree Hill. Basically, what I'm telling you, is that I spent the whole of yesterday on the couch, in my pajamas, watching TV.

But this morning, I realized that that was ok. It was ok, because that was what my body clearly needed. In the days leading up to yesterday, this weird sort of lethargy was just... enveloping me in a way that I couldn't ignore. I was tired all the time, my body ached... but I continued to push myself to work out, to make to do lists, to feel bad about myself when I didn't achieve the things on those lists.

So yesterday, I just internally yelled - ENOUGH! - at myself & did what I wanted. All day. So I watched Girls & One Tree Hill &  didn't get dressed. And I believe it is for that reason that I am actually able to function as a normal human being today. So you see, it all worked out. It all served a purpose. So I guess what I'm saying is, when you feel that you are exhausted, give yourself a break. Let yourself be re-energized. Your next-day self will thank you. I'm almost sure of it.

Know why else I like these kinds of posts? They remind me of my early-blogging Xanga days. And I liked those days & what those blogs represented back then. Did you have a Xanga?

Want to join me in blogging every day in June? The more the merrier. I even made a button to celebrate the occasion. Feel free to use it in your blog sidebar or in the body of your posts. Let's encourage one another to get back to our blogging roots. Happy blogging!

I recently have been marathoning One Tree Hill on netflix for the past couple of weeks mostly on weekends. A lot of my Sundays are lazy days for watching One Tree Hill, but I'm glad I have those days.

I never had a Xanga, but I did have a Livejournal. I just heard recently that Xanga officially shut down not too long ago. Good for you for taking time to rest when you needed it! I don't think people do that often enough... I certainly don't. But whenever I do l always feel refreshed. It sounds like you had a GREAT day yesterday! :)

I love your new layout!!

Sometimes you've just got to listen to what your body wants, and give yourself that break. Better to take that day of PJs than to come down with something because you're pushing yourself past your limits!

Oh, and the new blog design is awesome!

Thank you so much about the design - I've been thinking about it, & just kind of did it on a whim yesterday. I feel good about it. Maybe I've found one I'll keep for a while!

Thank you! And no, I actually just changed the design right before you commented. :)

Ahhh, I had a LiveJournal, too! I had a bunch of blogs when I was younger. I was totally obsessed. I actually still had a Xanga account open when they closed it down - now they are making people pay for accounts.

I never tend to rest when I need to, because I don't want to get "behind" with the things I'm trying to accomplish. I'm trying to listen to my body more, because that's important.

Thank you about my blog design! I think I actually really like it :)

Blogging was SO simple back then. I kind of miss it a little bit, honestly.

I am officially obsessed with Girls. It was a little strange at first, but now I've completely fallen in love with the characters, & all the craziness in their lives really comforts me & makes me feel normal!

I'm really loving the show! It reminds me of Dawson's Creek, which is one of my standard favorites. AND it was filmed in the city I'm currently living in, which makes it fun to recognize landmarks while watching!

the back and forth.

Justin had to turn on the air conditioner again last night.  It's October 26 - doesn't that mean the heater can stay on? Doesn't...
