the sunday currently, volume 89.

carolina days

Hello! Happy June! It has been a weekend of Wilmington-exploration [seen via the photos above] & of One Tree Hill in marathon form over here at the C abode. Which is to say, it's been a good weekend. This morning sees us embarking on making our habits healthier ones. I think there may be breakfast & coffee involved, too. What have you been up to this weekend?

C U R R E N T L Y . . .

R E A D I N G  is being kicked back into full swing this week - the Bible, Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban, blogs, & websites are all on the docket. I've fallen way too far behind on my daily Bible-reading app, & I'm not happy about that.
W R I T I N G  in a separate composition book for all of my blog drafts - I'm getting organized! And if you didn't see it, I'm also blogging every day in June! I've missed consistently writing, & I think this is the ticket. Hopefully I won't be kicking myself by June 30, like I was at the end of Blaugust. I won't be starting school in the middle of this month - like I did in August - so I've definitely got that going for me.
L I S T E N I N G  to my instincts & cold-turkey cleaning up my diet, starting today, not tomorrow. I visited the doctor on Friday, & I truly believe cleaning up my diet is going to be essential in getting my health where I want it to be. I'll probably talk more about the changes I'm making to my diet this month, as well as how I'm feeling due to those changes.
T H I N K I N G  that I can't believe there are nine seasons of One Tree Hill. Justin & I recently embarked on watching the whole series, which I'm excited about, considering it was filmed in Wilmington! I've chosen Girls as my watch-alone show, & I'm really growing to love it. Like I told Kara, their combined level of crazy is really comforting to me.
S M E L L I N G  honeysuckle & other delicious scents on my walks in my favorite park recently. Is there any smell better than honeysuckle in late Spring & all through Summer? No, the answer is there is not.
W I S H I N G  my house was clean. For as much as I talk about needing to clean my house, you would think that it would eventually happen. And I guess it will... eventually.
H O P I N G  I can really tackle my to-do list this week. Some things that need to be done? A phone call for some freelance work, preliminary packing prep, cleaning (HA!), working out, starting to cook healthy dinners... I could go on. I'm also hoping that our lease & deposit arrive to our property management company on time. The package is scheduled to be delivered a day before the due date, but I won't be able to relax until it arrives!
W E A R I N G  my hair curly... finally! It seems like I've discovered the proper technique, & I'm excited about that. Im really loving curly hair right now. Justin even said he liked it! I do need to invest in some anti-frizz serum or something, though. I'm trying to use as little heat on my hair as possible.
L O V I N G  Wilmington. I'm going to miss it. So is Justin. We're definitely trying to make the most of the rest of our time here. Early Saturday afternoon, we grabbed coffee & donuts from Dunkin Donuts & explored new parts of Wilmington.
W A N T I N G  to let my nails breathe for a while. Staying caught up in finding new colors to paint my nails, I sometimes forget how nice it feels to just... let them be.
N E E D I N G  lazy movie marathon weekends all summer. But, we should really be taking advantage of our proximity to the beach, since in a few short months, we'll be 2.5 hours away.
F E E L I N G  excited about my healthy living journey, which, as I said, is beginning today.
C L I C K I N G  Instagram a lot lately. On Friday, I'll be sharing my current favorite accounts.

So, I'll see you all here again tomorrow [and every day of this month!] for another post. I hope you all have a great week!

Oh, those photos are delicious. And honeysuckle -- all the yes! It's my favorite; takes me right back to my childhood. :)

I'm so excited to tune into your blog all month long! We are considering moving at some point in the near future too, so we are also trying to soak in the area we currently call home as much as we can this summer. I've learned that if I'm not intentional about it, I will miss out on lots of things and have lots of regrets.

I can't wait to read posts all month long! And I'm looking forward to hearing about your healthy living changes. In a few days I'll be starting a 30 day arm challenge (not an official one, I'm just doing an intense arm workout on a DVD that I have for 30 days) and I was thinking of picking up another Jillian Michaels workout today for a 30 day cardio series, but I've been wanting to dance so I think instead I'll dance for at least 30 minutes a day. That will be more fun too.

I don't know what it is about summer (you'd think I'd feel this way when it's freezing during winter) but all I want to do is watch movies. I actually wrote about it in my Sunday Currently post too. Great minds think alike. :)

It sounds like you're having a lovely weekend!

Oh man, those Jillian Michaels DVDs are KILLER! I tried them back in 2010 & haven't picked them up since. I need to revisit them, I'm thinking, as part of my healthy living changes. They are so challenging, but that's a good thing, right?

I feel you on the summer laziness. I actually thought that same thing: why am I being so lazy when it's so beautiful & warm outside? I chalk it up to the fact that I'm such a homebody. I'm going to try & force myself over to the beach one day soon, though :)

Thank you for the motivation with my blog-every-day-in-June challenge! Supportive comments really help me get back into the swing of things - I really appreciate it!

I definitely have to be intentional when it comes to appreciating the everyday beauty of Wilmington. I've been so lucky to have the opportunity to live here, & that's easy to forget when I'm holed up in the house in front of the TV.

Thanks about the photos - those scenes are the things I love most about North Carolina. It's such a beautiful state! Honeysuckle takes me straight back to my childhood too - it is the smell of playing outside until dusk on summer days!

the back and forth.

Justin had to turn on the air conditioner again last night.  It's October 26 - doesn't that mean the heater can stay on? Doesn't...
