no doubt you've seen the millions of youtube tutorials about achieving curly waves a la 1950s movie stars - all with no heat involved.
as a person with what some may call 'unruly' hair, i was intrigued by this notion.
my hair is the kind that has to have some kind of attention paid to it post-shower, unless i want it to culminate in a frizzy mess by 2 p.m. it's naturally curly, but as i have grown older, the curls have become much looser & only 'ringlet up' if coerced by loads of mousse & minutes upon minutes of scrunching.
bottom line: when i straighten it, it stays straight. when i curl it, it holds a curl. and it's very thick.
so last night i rolled up my hair (and thought about the grease scene when they have their hair rolled up at the slumber party) & wished for the best.
forgive me - i went a bit crazy with photo editing - i don't actually have green-tinted skin.
the verdict:
i think my hair needs to be straight before wrapping in order to achieve the ultimate desired effect with this technique. my hair was in its natural state last night before i brushed out the tangles & wrapped it up. next time, i'll wrap up de-frizzed, straightened hair & report back.
all in all, it does look pretty cool, with minimal effort. props to whoever started this little trend.

Yours look so good! Mine didn't look nearly this pretty, I think I need to try again now that it's not 110 degrees.
ohhhh, I think you look Gorgeous darling! Next up... the sock bun. Have you seen the youtube tutorial on that one? Amazing. I'm going to try that this weekend.
Thanks for your comments on my blog! It's so nice to have people hear what you have to say and understand.
And your hair looks amazing, I'm kind of jealous! Mine is straight, and very thin, so when I curl it, it hardly lasts at all :(
i love this idea. i have a feeling i would have to do mine straight before as well. but the pictures of yours look beautiful!!!
I think it looks great! I don't know that straightening it first is good idea though...my hair never likes to stay curled if it's straightened first :/
Hope you have a fabulous weekend my dear!
xoxoxo,
Joelle
I think it looks great! That really is a neat trend. And I would do anything for thick hair! Lucky girl.
This looks pretty amazing! I´ve never tried this before, but I might to. My hair is desperatly straight, and I would kill for these gorgeous waves :)

I think your hair looks LOVELY!
I've been thinking about doing this, but I'm always nervous about it for some reason (which is retarded...I mean, what are the risks?)
Maybe I'll give it a try now!
